Sea to Sky Highway - Canada

The sea to sky highway also known as Highway 99 is a scenic highway taking you in just 1.5 hours all the way from Vancouver to Whistler passing by in Squamish with the Howe Sound as water source on one side and mountains and forest all around you. After that it continues further north another 2.5 hours and ends short after the Pavilion Lake. I visited a lot of spots which I’m going to show now leading from south to nord. Please scrolll all the way through as the Pavilioin Lake was one of my favorite spots in BC and you should make sure to not miss it 😉 Squamish and Whistler are covered each in a different blog.

Whytecliff Park

Still part of West Vancouver and close to the Nanaimo Vancouver Island Ferry and the Ferry to Bowen Island which I sadly didn’t manage to visit. There is just too many great spots around. We climed on this rock to have a great view in all directions.

All the visitors were active climbing and hiking and those cute seals were just enjoing the sun.

Porteau Cove

We had a self cooked dinner here and enjoyed the sunset over the mountains with the reflection in the Howe Sound.

They also have a scenic campground at this spot, sadly it was full and we continued north for the night.

Britannia Beach

Tantalus Lookout

A nice lookout just by the road.

Nairn Falls Provincial Park

On the way back we found a last minute camping spot on the campground of this park and enjoyed a walk to their waterfalls.

On the way up to Pavilion Lake we had another night near the park in a self serve camping spot where some nice Canadians with tents made some place for us to park and sleep in our car. We heard this river at night, which was so relaxing.

Duffey Lake

All the loggs get trapped here and lead to a unique view.

Just a short way north from Duffey Lake we had a short stop by the river.

Seton Lake

On the opposite side of this lake we had a night at the BC Hydro Seton Lake Campsite. It was closed due to Covid but there still was enough place at their camping lot where others crashed over night as well.

Pavilion Lake

The first time we passed by this stunning lake was on our way back from the Rocky Mountains road trip in June. We saw the super clear water and decided that we need to visit again and that’s what we did in September the same year. The drive was fully worth it! We hade some dips in its cold water and enjoyed some walks around the area.

We stayed a few nights at the Marble Canyon Provincial Park Campground just shortly past is. Funnily the host of the caretaker, a nice woman, was a German and moved to Canada decades ago for her dreamjob. She was super nice and helpful.
