Isla Mujeres
View from the ferry. What clear water!
We arrived at night a day late in Cancun and thus did not have time to explore the city itself. Insead after one night we did a daytrip over to the Isla Mujeres, a gorgeous island not far from Cancun reachable with a short ferry ride. Even the ride over was gorgeous at the water was clear and the weather warm with a nice breeze. The ferry has a regular scedule and drives over quite often both ways.
We got a scooter and decided to drive south on the west side of the island with the goal to have a few stops and surround the island during the day.
Our first stop was at a beach where you would need to have a drink to be able to relax at it. As it was hot a refreshment was welcomed anyways so we had a drink and enjoyed a dip in the ocean. It was a small place near the Dolphin Discovery where we just walked in.
After some relaxing time by the beach, we drove all the way south to Punta Sur, where for a small entrance fee you explore a rocky natural park with loads of lizards. We really enjoyed the views and a stroll in the area. The ocean is wild crashing against the rocks and has beautiful clear turquois at the same time.
View at the skyline of Cancun. Btw. Cancun beaches have as clear and blue water as those here, but they are way more crowded…
At the End of the day we arrived back north of the island, explored the town a bit and then relaxed at the North Beach for a snack, a drink, a swim and later a gorgeous sunset.
I’m always a fan of a great grafitti!
From the North Beach you can even see part of the skyline of Cancun as it started to get illuminated. The sunset was gorgous with dramatic clouds and waves plus the skyline making it unique.
We stayed till late and got some nice dinner before we left. In the dark we explored the town a little more while waiting for the next ferry ride. It is a cute Mexican town with colorful decorations everywhere.
